Capital Markets Figures That Change: Volatile-Figures Register

New on FinoLib · Volume II: Capital Markets

I have just published a new reference page on FinoLib: Capital Markets Figures That Change: Volatile-Figures Register. It lists the figures in Volume II: Capital Markets that go out of date, with the date each one is next reviewed. Below is an introduction and a sample of the entries.

About this page

Some numbers in a finance book go stale fast: limits, thresholds, rates and benchmark levels. This register lists the figures in Capital Markets that change, with the date each was last checked, so you know what to re-verify before relying on it.

It is a short, practical reference: look up the number, see when it was last confirmed, and follow the source to the current value. Bookmark it and check back whenever a rule or rate makes the news.

Good to know

Why some numbers go stale: tax limits, benefit thresholds, policy rates, capital requirements and benchmark levels are reset by regulators and legislatures, often once a year. A book that quotes them is right on the day it is written and wrong a year later unless someone checks again.

How I handle it: each figure that moves is listed with the place it appears and the month it will next be reviewed. The aim is that you never have to guess whether a number is current: look it up, see when it was confirmed, and follow the source to the live value.
